In 1993, landscape gardener Joël CHATAIN and the Association des Ateliers de Techniques Anciennes had a dream: to recreate a medieval-inspired garden on the outskirts of the Ferme de l'Hôpital - a former Knights Templar commandery in Coulommiers classified as a Historic Monument - with a path inspired by the Roman de la Rose and medieval monastic gardens, the aim being to create an educational garden.
Enclosed by walls, created on the site of a former garden, the garden now features various themed areas and a collection of 250 plants and cultivated plants, known in the Middle Ages (5th-15th centuries), vegetable plants, medicinal plants, craft plants, flowers and food plants essential to biodiversity.

Supervised by landscape gardener Joël Chatain and volunteers from Les Amis du Musée du Papier, you'll take part in the upkeep and enhancement of the medieval garden, and discover the species that make it up.
On the program:
- Plessage of the green rose hedge
- Plessage of dry wicker
- Skilful grooming of the garden, highlighting the medieval simplicities
- Small-scale ecological gardening of collection squares
This participative workshop is a great opportunity to learn, recognize, support, participate and be together!
