Blacksmithing in the medieval town of Rodemack

Organised by "Les amis des vieilles pierres de Rodemack"

Accessible from age 17

The heritage site

Nestled in the heart of the Trois Frontières region, just a few kilometers from Luxembourg and Germany, Rodemack is nicknamed "Lorraine's little Carcassonne". Together with the Citadel, the fortifications that encircle the old town form the most homogenous example of medieval architecture in Lorraine.

The "Amis des Vieilles Pierres de Rodemack" association has set itself the task of safeguarding the village's heritage through volunteer workcamps, and bringing it to life by organizing a major medieval festival every year.

Planned restoration work

The theme of this project will be blacksmithing.
The aim is to replace the door of the prison tower, located in a 13th century rampart.
The project calls for the production and installation of ironwork: points, hinges, hinges, forged on site.
It offers the opportunity to work at different levels of difficulty.
An introduction to stone-cutting will also be offered, as well as the creation of small forged objects for personal use.

Accommodation and group living

You'll stay in the association's house and sleep in shared dormitories.

Meals are prepared and eaten in common, giving you the opportunity to share convivial moments and show off your best recipes! An educational coordinator will make sure your stay runs smoothly.
