Come and contribute to research and discover the vestiges of the past! The Castelroc association, in charge of preserving the medieval castle, welcomes passionate or motivated and serious volunteers throughout the year to work on different areas of archaeological surveys.

The opportunity to discover the know-how of archaeologists and to contribute to field work.

Castelroc, the medieval castle of La Roque is located in the upper Dadou valley, a stone's throw from the episcopal city of Albi. Built between the 11th and 12th centuries (Cathar era), it dates back to its Carolingian era. A small path through the woods allows you to reach the rocky outcrop which majestically supports it.

Different areas inside or outside the castle require careful research to understand the past. For centuries men and women have lived in Castelroc. Your mission, to help us go back in time to understand the life and history of the castle.

You will participate in a site of clearings following an archaeological survey, without doubt the best way to learn archeology. This will allow you to discover the reality of field work and learn the techniques of preventive archeology, with stratigraphic survey, recording and cleaning of furniture, processing of data collected.

On site, the group will organize itself with the technical supervisor in order to meet a pre-determined work schedule. volunteers will have to work as a team in a defined area. Whatever the experience of the volunteer, everyone will find a place in the realization of the collective work.

Accommodation. The association offers volunteers a lodging accommodation solution.
The reception of volunteers takes place at the Albi station in the middle of the day on the first day of the construction site or at 3 p.m. at the village gîte.
