Montagu Castle (weekend)
|Dates from 10/01/2020 to 11/12/2020||Age > 17 years old||Type of project Weekend site|
One Saturday a month, join the fifteen or so people who maintain the remains of the castle of Montagu: weeding work, small masonry work, remarkable stone sorting, initiation to stone cutting, treatment of movable objects .
.. This site is open to everyone and does not require any special skills.
The castle of Montagu built at the beginning of the 15th century knew its peak thanks to the admiral of Graville at the end of the 15th.
Demolished after the revolution, the castle was given to the apprentices of Auteuil in 1941.
Since 1990, the historic association of Marcoussis maintains the remains and organizes volunteer sites and training. She plans to restore the tower of oblivion, the only tower preserved on the castle.
The work is varied and open to everyone: weeding, loosening, sorting and classification of remarkable stones, restoration of the access bridge, restoration of pottery, initiation to stone cutting, light masonry ...
The site takes place from 9h to 17h.
The association offers a picnic lunch.
Access possible via line B of the RER by Orsay-Ville station. Carpool possible from the station.
