Châteauneuf-sur-Epte: weekends

The members of the Héritage Historique association run weekend work camps and welcome volunteers wishing to take action to preserve and restore their heritage in Châteauneuf-sur-Epte, a remarkable example of military architecture from the 11th and 12th centuries in Normandy.

Saved from perdition in 2015 by the Historical Heritage association, the castle is gradually reborn thanks to the goodwill and the involvement of everyone. The aim is to fully restore this long neglected fortress to establish a medieval cultural center open to all.
As the fortress's revegetation phase is almost complete, the weekend works are part of the consolidation and preparation phase for major restoration works.

Several activities will be offered depending on the weekend depending on the weather and the availability of technical supervisors: masonry, traditional lime, carpentry, carpentry, roofing, cleaning and revegetation of the castle, other various works.
The site takes place on weekends, the programming may vary depending on the time and the availability of supervisors.

No participation fee to be paid to the association for weekend sites: volunteers manage their food and equipment. Accommodation is not charged.
For the sake of simplicity and saving time, volunteers generally bring their meals, even if common pots and barbecues are sometimes organized.
Come with safety shoes and protective gloves (preferably leather gardening type).
Warning ! You must arrive at the castle on your own.
Car sharing is recommended: the chateau is right in the middle of the Paris-Rouen axis with a 5 min detour.
Be careful if you want to stay sleeping on Saturday: accommodation is in a house under renovation which is not yet heated and properly insulated. You must bring your sleeping bag and mattress.
