Take part in an exceptional international project in the Caucasus.
Supported by REMPART, INTO, the National Trust of Georgia, and with the support of the ALIPH Foundation, this project will aim to restore the Tsiskarauli Tower (16th and 17th centuries), damaged during the second Chechen war in 2001.
The five-storey schist building is a masterpiece of the architectural tradition of Khevsuretia, a high mountain region north of Tbilisi (Great Caucasus range). On the side of a hill, at an altitude of over 2,000 metres, the site overlooks the mountain village of Akhieli and its alpine pastures... The qualities of the building and the country's development potential in the fields of culture, youth and voluntary work are assets for this international project.
The project combines the restoration of heritage through the participatory approach of REMPART and ecotourism development based on the know-how of the British National Trust. The expertise of both organisations will be made available to the local partner from summer 2021. The volunteer workcamps focus on the restoration of the Tower itself (shale masonry) and its surrounding natural and built environment.
To participate in this project in Georgia, we will invite the French volunteers to a preparation meeting, the date of which will be communicated to you when you confirm your registration. On this occasion, you will be able to receive more information on the living conditions in this country, meet former volunteers and talk to the leaders.
A mobility grant paid by REMPART at the end of your workcamp, on presentation of proof of transport, might be provided for volunteers living in France.
These elements are subject to change depending on the geopolitical and health context.
Fees
Registration fees : to pay at REMPART at registration
Frais de séjour : 250€ / session
The accommodation costs ( to be confirmed! ) are $475 ( about €444 ).
Please note that volunteers registered on work sites outside France must be covered for personal civil liability, repatriation or premature return and urgent and unforeseeable medical care for a stay of up to 30 days. REMPART invoices this MMA insurance “assistance, repatriation costs” €25 (see guarantees) . If you already have Mondial assistance insurance, you must enclose proof of your registration.
Registration and insurance fees (to be paid to REMPART at the time of registration ( €40 , or €30 if you have already participated in a workcamp last year).
A valid passport is mandatory.
