Founded in 1922 by Émile Galtier, journalist and local historian, the History and Archeology Society "Le Vieux Saint Maur" aims to study local history and archeology, and to promote knowledge and conservation memories, sites of the past and their enhancement.
The association has been a member of Union REMPART since 1973.
Many REMPART volunteer sites and heritage classes were hosted until 1989 on the site of the former abbey of Saint-Maur (7th century).
Since 2017, the association has been organizing a teenage project in partnership with the Teenagers Club of the city of Saint-Maur-des-Fossés. Scheduled for a week in June-July, the site combines small catering activities on the site of the abbey and discovery and heritage initiation workshops.
Since 2019, weekend workshops for local volunteers of all ages have been organized in the spring and fall.
