APPEVA was created in 1970 to safeguard the narrow gauge railway line between Cappy and Dompierre (Somme). Used until 1972 by the Dompierre sugar refinery, this line is the only survivor of a network of over 300 km built during the First World War to serve the front. The association now has the largest collection of 60 cm track material kept on the original site (38 locomotives and more than 130 wagons) and operates a 7 km line for tourism from Froissy to Dompierre and called "P? tit train of the Haute Somme". A narrow gauge railway museum, with a surface area of 1800 m², was inaugurated in 1996 in order to present part of the collection to the public, some vehicles of which are classified as Historical Monuments.
In addition to the routine maintenance of this technical and industrial heritage, many vehicles still need to be restored in order to ensure their durability as a witness to the past.

The association receives school children and offers guided tours of the museum of narrow gauge railways. The latter is embellished with numerous explanatory panels on the vehicles presented, as well as on the evolution of narrow gauge railways, from their invention to the current life of the association, including the First World War, the reconstruction of towns and villages from 1918 to 1924 and industrial, mining and agricultural use. You can also learn how a steam locomotive works.
