The Père-Lachaise cemetery, the most famous of the great Parisian cemeteries, covers its 44 ha on the hillside of Charonne. This place preserves monuments of exceptional value. However, many burials presenting artistic, historical or architectural interests are threatened with disappearance for lack of maintenance. Our association works for the safeguarding and the development of these monuments. Each year, we organize two-week internships to discover this heritage and enhance it through its restoration. The training offered is a balance between theory and practice of restoration aimed at transmitting a sensitivity and an ethical approach to heritage and possible safeguarding interventions.
