Domaine de Soye

Former estate with regular gardens drawn by cord across the Breton countryside in 1786, by a shipowner at the time of the Compagnie des Indes, birthplace of the engineer Dupuy de Lôme, in 1816, who had revolutionized the French navy during the XIXth century, and witness to the passage of the infamous Hélène Jégado, poisoner of "Fleur de Tonnerre", the estate is the current property of the city of Ploemeur.

The domain of Soye presents a varied architectural ensemble which allows a reading of all the history of the country of Lorient: a mansion of the XVII century (in ruins) and its vegetable garden in the course of rehabilitation, its orangery typical of the belle epoque, underground tunnels from Cadoudal's time enlarged by the Germans during the occupation and which are accompanied by many mysterious looking blockaus, the first open-air school built in France in the 1920s, as well as a unique collection Europe of three temporary pavilions dating from the reconstruction of Lorient (registered MH), fruit of the urban laboratories of the MRU and foreign countries.

A living site also hosting the leisure centers of the city of Lorient, the cultural and conservatory center for Breton culture "Amzer Nevez" as well as a park of high-tech companies, one of which houses the largest 3D printer of europe!

Since 2002, the historic heart of the estate has started to change thanks to the Mémoire de Soye association, which gently brings it out of oblivion, through activities, publications, visits and volunteer work sites.
