Fort Cézon

Cézon, an island, a fort, a history

Île Cézon is 400 meters from the shore, you can walk there on dry land at low tide. It has housed fortifications since the end of the 17th century in order to protect the moorings of the Aber Wrac'h and to avoid taking land from Brest. These fortifications were built during the reign of Louis XIV, under the impulse of Vauban, then resumed in the 19th century under Napoleon III.

The island was taken over by the German army during the end of the Second World War and integrated into the Atlantic Wall.

This exceptional architectural ensemble includes many well-preserved elements despite the tests of time. It was listed as a Historic Monument in July 2015.

Ile Cézon is also a protected natural site, a breathtaking 360 ° view in the middle of Aber Wrac'h, a land of adventure, of dreams with endless horizons, in the middle of an archipelago remarkable islets and sites.
