The cellar of the Benedictine Monastery of Saint-Pourçain dates back to Roman times. It is in the basement of a building that extends from north to south of the choir of the former Sainte-Croix abbey. It served as cellars for the monks, then for the last private owners who had acquired the monastic buildings as National Property. It was bought around 1900 by the town, which rented it as a dance hall.

In 1988, the town received by testament a lithographic press from Guy Voisin, dating from the middle of the 19th century. She then turned to Archiclassique, an association for heritage and cultural purposes to support this press.

Archiclassique welcomes interns each year to restore the printing equipment and create new lithographs.

The trainees learn the techniques of lithography (engraving on stone) with the help of a specialist (painter-engraver) during the week of images organized by the city of Saint-Pourçain-sur-Sioule.
