Faycelles village

Faycelles is a picturesque village in Figeacois, located in Quercy and the last buttress of the Massif Central. Well known to hikers, it is crossed by an essential stage of the way of St Jacques de Compostelle.

Since 2010, DECLAM has participated in both the overall development of the village with the objective may be to become one of the most beautiful villages in France, but also in the rehabilitation of old terraces overlooking the Lot.

The first two years were devoted on the one hand to the reopening and maintenance of rural roads, and to the construction of a traditional masonry stone wall at the entrance to the village.

Since 2012, the terraces have been in the spotlight. Located under the cliffs below the village, they benefit from a microclimate protecting the cultures of the time (vegetable patch, pasture, vines) from the cold of winter and the summer heat. Abandoned for more than 50 years, they now host a rich flora and fauna and for some rare species. By taking over the dry stone retaining walls, by maintaining the paths and plots, by offering activities to raise awareness of the landscape and its riches, DECLAM 'is beginning a rehabilitation and enhancement of the site which covers several hectares.
