Since the 15th century, the Château de Beaumont has protected the south of the old town of La Mure. Abandoned and partially collapsed at the beginning of the 19th century, the Sisters of the Nativity bought it to transform it into a school for young girls with boarding school, by fitting out a very large chapel. But in 1905, following the law of separation of Church and State, the establishment was taken over by the City which kept it as a boarding school. Then in the 80s, with the modernization of the school, the premises were again abandoned. And in 2003, the City entrusted the chapel to the Univiersité Rurale Montagnarde (URM), to make it a resource space dedicated to training in techniques for rehabilitating old buildings in the mountains.
