Under the Old Regime, the Saint-Pierre church, mentioned in the will of Pope Clement V in 1314, belongs to the parish of Martaillac, attached to Sainte-Gemme. In 1792, it was abolished by the Constitutional Clergy which proceeded to redistrict the parishes. But under the Organization, it was finally rehabilitated, since it became, by decree of April 17, 1803, annex to the parish of Sainte-Gemme.

The Romanesque church is located on land close to Gallo-Roman remains. It has undergone several transformations, notably a wall inside which closes the space of the choir and transforms the apse into a sacristy. Other traces are legible, but a study of its history and architecture would make it possible to read the evolutions of this building as a whole.

The frame collapsed in the 1970s. In 1980, the inhabitants of Martaillac mobilized to save the church by cleaning the vegetation, clearing the frame and protecting the leveling of the walls.

In 2012, an association was created to carry out a site restoration project. Visible from the road, in front of a hiking trail, the church could be a welcoming place for exhibition panels and a meeting place for conferences or other cultural events. However, the sanitary condition of the building requires a resumption of masonry before precisely defining the roofing project.
