Les Amis du Mez" - ADM - is a non-profit association governed by the French law of July 1, 1901. Its aim is to promote cultural activities based on archaeological and historical research into the Château de Mez-le-Maréchal in Dordives (Loiret) and its surrounding area, with a view to understanding the site and disseminating knowledge in a spirit of popular education.
The programmed excavation authorization granted by the Service archéologique de la région Centre - Val-de-Loire has the following remit:
- research the historical context in the archives
- survey existing elevations;
- produce a digital terrain model to understand the environment;
- make an inventory of the stones found on or near the site;
- carry out field excavations,
in order to bring to light the elements needed for a rational restoration to be carried out by the owner;
To this end, an archaeological research team was set up in 2018.
It meets on average once a month. In addition, two work camps are organized each year in July and November.
Participation in these research projects requires a certain regularity.
A multi-skilled team works regularly to discover the site and its history.
