L'Université rurale Montagnarde is an association dedicated to safeguarding the built heritage of Sud-Isère and passing on local know-how through volunteer workcamps and educational activities. This group of enthusiasts brings together building professionals and residents of the Sud-Isère region (Matheysine, Valbonnais, Trièves, Oisans, Beaumont), keen to reproduce ancestral building techniques with a view to sustainable development. URM works on a number of different sites, including the terraces of the Cure de Biviers, an ideal place to discover techniques for building dry stone and masonry walls.
