The Charly estate originated in the 15th century under the name Fief de Thury, from the name of the locality. Owned by a wealthy bourgeois from Cluny, called Canaux, with no male heir, he returned to the house of Montchanin and then to that of Saint Georges. Judging the castle of Thury, placed in a too humid area, near Le Repentir, the family of St Georges transfers the castle to Charly. It was in 1688 that the castle and its outbuildings were built.

Acquired on November 18, 1785 by Bruyes de Charly, this property seems to be going through the revolution of 1789 without major difficulty. In 1809 it had a total area of 165ha98a on Mazille and 2ha35a47ca on Jalogny.

Gilbert Bruyes de Charly was mayor of Mazille, then deputy of the legislative body and several times president of the General Council under the 1st Empire.

In 1810, the estate included 23ha of vines representing 18 vineyards supporting 24 families in Mazille.

Gilbert Bruyes de Charly died in 1827 leaving for heirs 2 daughters including Antoinette Suzanne Elisabeth who married his uncle Philibert Bruyes des Gardes secretary of command of the Comte d? Artois, 1st clerk at the Ministry of Paris in 1791 and mayor of Blanot. They had an only son Emilien Bruyes des Gardes who took over the property, which had been partly divided for the benefit of Bruyes d'Avilly.

Emilien, councilor at the Court of Dijon therefore inherits the castle, outbuildings and part of the land. He was mayor of Mazille. He created the park and rebuilt part of the castle.

Her son, Achille Henri Bruyes des Gardes married in 1867 Marguerite Paillard whose father Alphonse Paillard was a former Prefect. From this union was born a daughter who married Colonel Comte de la Moussaye, and it was in 1898 that their daughter Anne de la Moussaye was born, died in 1982, who bequeathed Charly on February 26, 1959 at the Rural Center.

Father Desgouttes, parish priest of Mazille and confidant of Anne de la Moussaye owner of Charly, registers the latter's desire to bequeath the domain to an association which will aim “to encourage the agricultural profession, technical training and moral of the rural world and generally the study of all questions relating to it, finally the good management of the inheritance belonging to it ”.
