Since the dawn of time man has shaped stones, they write our history, they testify to our dreams and our ingenuity. Techniques have evolved over the ages, thanks, among other things, to the invention of specific tools allowing greater mastery of materials and a more complex elaboration of these.

From antiquity to the present day it is an ancestral and similar gesture that resonates with each stroke of the chisel, the machines have not replaced the human hand, they sometimes accompany it in certain phases of the work.

The Charente is a region very rich in limestone, we find, according to the extraction sites, very different, from the softest to the firmest. Of course, we work with a fine limestone but soft enough to allow you to finalize the work started.

Your course consists of a purely technical approach to carving, you will learn to use tools such as chisels, steps, plows, etc., to handle the stone, and familiarize yourself in a simple way with a three-dimensional vision.

Stone cutting is a constant adventure, because we only proceed by removing material, any error having an irremediable character, which gives stone cutters intense moments.

The works last 5 days. Trainees arrive on the evening of the first day of the course and leave on the morning of the last day of the course. The course begins Monday morning at 9am. The flexible hours, in particular according to the climatic conditions, are as follows: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Accommodation is in the association's collective lodging in April (Comfort Rustique) and in tents in July and August. The association nevertheless has a few sleeping places in gites for the summer. Please reserve your place upon registration.

A contribution to the cleaning of dishes and toilets will be requested from the trainees.
