At the heart of a breathtaking panorama, participate in the development of the surroundings of the Château d'Allègre. This year you will continue the restoration of dry stone walls. For this you will use the traditional techniques of dry stone construction and calading. Many activities offered in the afternoons. You will participate in the medieval festival of the association.

Located in the Gard, Mont Bouquet, a natural fortress with its cliffs, caves, avens dating from the Neolithic, Celtic and Gallo-Roman oppida, also has a rich heritage from the Middle Ages.

Among the vestiges of this past remain the strange and picturesque ruins of the Castrum d'Allègre. At 275 meters above sea level, the site overlooks a wide panorama of the garrigue and the Cévennes.

The Château d'Allègre owes its exceptional character to the presence of several stately towers which make it a real "knights village" and not a simple fortress unlike other castles in the region.

The site is part of a multi-year plan to enhance the landscape of the Château d'Allègre site. Between 2010 and 2014, the calade crossing the old village of Allègre, facilitated access to the site. In 2015 and 2016 the restoration of restanques between the village and the castle now makes it possible to carry out the project of creation of a medieval garden. In 2017 and 2018, the site consisted of installing a platform on which we installed an orientation table. In 2019 and 2020 we will take over the dry stone walls bordering the calade and on other parts of the site.
Preparation of the foundations while keeping the base parts intact, resumption of the bases on the degraded parts, choice of stones and reconstruction of the levelings.

Each year, the members of the Château d'Allègre Safeguarding Association take great pleasure in welcoming new participants and share their passion for this magnificent site and their region with them.
The construction site hours are 7:30 am to 1:30 pm so as to avoid moments of high heat. A meal break (cold) is planned for the end of the morning.
Accommodation is in a cottage with sanitary facilities, bathroom, kitchen, washing machine and in a nearby campsite.
Bring a sleeping bag or sheets.
Meals are included in the price of the stay, except breakfasts.

The afternoons are devoted to rest and then to various activities: site visits, castles, caves, Nîmes, or other places, swimming in the river or any other activity that the group will choose.
In the evening, entertainment (concerts, parties) will be offered, much of which will take place on the Château d'Allègre site. Saturday in the middle of the construction site takes place the medieval festival, an important moment of the year for the association.
