The ARSIMED association has been offering blacksmithing courses for 25 years.

In small groups, you will learn the basic techniques of blacksmithing. You can then move on to making objects such as:
Knives, decorative objects, sword blades, etc...

This course is for people who have never forged but who have always dreamed of it.

Insiders will also be able to come and improve their skills.

The courses take place on the Logis Médiéval site in Tessé in Charente, where the association has a fully equipped forge.

Blacksmithing is an art that is less and less widespread but which had its greatest hours in medieval times and at the beginning of the Renaissance.
From agriculture to war, passing through carpentry and masonry, all the actors of those times used tools made by forge workshops.

But what is the forge exactly?
This is what we suggest you discover in this initiation course to certain basic techniques:

• Stretching and Section Transformation
• Rallies, Sheets

Once these techniques are properly integrated, we can move on to making objects such as:
Candlesticks, knives, decorative objects, sword blades, etc.

This course is for people who have never forged but who have always dreamed of it.

For those who already have forge experience, it is possible to come and improve on specific techniques such as quenching.

The courses last 5 days. Trainees arrive on the evening of the first day of the course and leave on the morning of the last day of the course. The course begins Monday morning at 9am. The flexible hours, in particular according to the climatic conditions, are as follows: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Accommodation is in the collective lodging of the association in April (Comfort Rustique) and in tents ( not provided ) in July and August. The association nevertheless has a few sleeping places in gites for the summer. Please reserve your place upon registration.

A contribution to the cleaning of dishes and toilets will be requested from the trainees.
