“Addicts to the Castle” of Castelroc - April

Do you know the Castle Addicts? Embracing the intergenerational bond, we vibrate at the idea of making an extraordinary discovery, we dream of tales and legends, we love nature and outdoor life, we travel through history and poetry.

In sharing, we work with joy, courage and vigor. Already Addicted!?

Castelroc, the medieval castle of La Roque is located in the upper valley of the Dadou not far from the episcopal city of Albi. Built between the 11th and 12th centuries (Cathar era) it dates back to its origins in the Carolingian era. A small path through the woods leads to the rocky outcrop which majestically supports it.

All types of missions are entrusted to volunteers according to their preferences, weather conditions and the objectives set by the association ... The sites are numerous and varied: construction of dry stone walls, masonry, archaeological surveys, wood frame construction and stones, work to secure and preserve buildings, landscaping, etc.

On the 3rd Sunday of each month , the "Addicts of the castle" meet for the construction site. The animators, responsible for the day, propose the various workshops on which it is advisable to work according to a predetermined schedule and the weather conditions.
The groups are organized according to the objectives set and the choices of each volunteer. At noon, the picnic is shared in joy and good humor...

For those who wish, accommodation is possible on request (outside school holiday periods). A contribution to the management costs of the gîte is requested (10€ per night). Contact us for more informations.

Volunteers can also take part in outings (visits) organized by the association, in the training offered to improve their skills (techniques, events, etc.), in events organized by the association (example: Castel & Dragon Festival).
