  4. Saint-Pierre church in Larochemillay

The Larochemillay church was built in 1870 to replace the previous church, which threatened ruin. In order to allow its construction, the Marquis de la Ferté-Meun, owner of the Château de la Roche (listed as a historic monument in 2002), offers to exchange part of the château's domain for another piece of land, and to allocate the plot thus made available to the municipality for the future church; he also offered to help finance construction and pay for interior decorations.

After some false starts (the first two architects having had their plans refused by the Minister of Worship), construction finally began in 1869 according to the plans and under the supervision of Anatole de Baudot. It ended without major unforeseen events in 1870.

In exchange for their contribution, the Marquis de la Ferté-Meun and his family were given a private chapel within the church as well as a family vault located under this chapel.

The original plan of the church has been very little modified, except for the construction of a new sacristy. The interior decorations are made by François Verdier and Alexandre Dreux, from the Saint-Grégoire de Tours brotherhood.

The statuary and the furniture of the church have remained in place since its construction, with in particular a tabernacle decorated with a statue of Saint Peter surrounded on both sides by two angels in worship before the Blessed Sacrament and a master altar whose antependium depicts Christ surrounded by the apostles.
There is also a statue inviting to veneration of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a typical cult of the last quarter of the 19th century.
