Supervised by a restorer, you will work on the restoration of the murals in the second chapel of the left transept: establishment of a state of conservation, graphic and photographic surveys, intervention on the decorations.

Cover letter required. Discovery of the Morvan.

The church was built according to a Latin cross plan, with collaterals and a flat chevet. Two side chapels are placed on either side of the choir window, forming a transept. The nave has three vaults in broken arch and an entrance porch surmounted by a grandstand and a bell tower. The choir is surrounded by a low wooden fence, the extent of which extends into the choir window. The church is not regularly oriented to the east, due to the configuration of the terrain, the choir is turned to the north and the entrance to the south. The church was entirely painted in 1872 by François Verdier and Alexandre Dreux of the Société Saint-Grégoire de Tours.

This work campaign will restore / restore the decorations of the second chapel of the left transept.

After the establishment of the state of conservation report by graphic and photographic surveys, interventions on the walls can be undertaken.

Any pockets of detachment of the plaster will be consolidated by the injection of a grout which will restore adhesion between the plaster and the wall. The coating gaps will be filled. Then, follow a very light cleaning with a soft brush. The gaps in the paint layer will be touched up with casein paint. The decorative elements will be restored, if necessary, using clichés and identical technique.

The course will take place from Monday to Friday according to timetables established in agreement with the management team and the trainees. The late afternoons will be devoted to leisure time and exploring the region.

Late afternoons and weekends will be devoted to leisure time. You can visit the City of Art and History of Autun, its monuments and discover the Morvan. A visit to the Bibracte site will be organized with a meeting with the archaeologists present. Hiking and meeting craftsmen.
