) who can choose their dates of stay. Near the chain of Puys, on the edge of a river in a protected natural setting, this old monastery founded in 1219 had its peak in the 18th century. You will participate in the clearing of the places and the restructuring of dry stone walls to allow the legibility of the footprint on the ground of the monastery.

The only medieval charterhouse in Auvergne, the Chartreuse Port-Sainte-Marie site is listed as a historic monument because of its archaeological potential, which is an essential milestone in understanding the evolution of the architecture of the Carthusian order . If we find the typical plan of a Charterhouse with its three spaces - the economic center, the religious center and the cenobitic center grouping the 19 cells and their garden, the closing place of the Carthusian fathers - the site is distinguished by the presence of medieval settlements and also by the presence of a fortified tower, a cemetery of lay people and by the number of its cells.
